I
took the Pyranha S8 235 out for the first time over a week
ago at HPP. It offers comfort and performance in copious amounts.
The ends of the S8 are quite slicey and as a result flatwater
bowstalls and cartwheels are relatively easy. Probably the
area in which the S8 excels is in the wave. There's plenty
of hull speed to get on those big water waves. The generous
amount of rocker in the bow and stern allow this boat to spin
and stay on the wave without digging in. In addition to its
loose hull which provides great spins, and its ability to
carve is superb, allowing you to control your speed and position
on the wave. Both ends of the S8 are very well balanced. I
never experienced the bow wanting to dive or the stern sinking
when in fast moving water.
The quick and easy adjustment of the seat and thigh braces
allow you to trim the S8 quickly and the now obligatory ratchet
backrest make getting comfortable a breeze. The boat comes
supplied with a bag full of foam, a water bottle and the famous
Pyranha sponge.
In
summary I felt this boat has a lot to offer the paddler and
it has all the charateristics of a good boat, offering a balance
of comfort and performance.
