The Right And The Wrong – GoPro

The GoPro series of cameras are superb, they are small, robust and not too expensive. It is now so easy to knock together a short video of your paddling and share it with the world. Anyone can do it and quite alot do. That is where the problem starts. It is really easy to get a video that looks like all the other kayaking videos that end up on Youtube, Vimeo and Facebook early each week or even worse end up with compromised footage that cannot be used.

The Right And The Wrong - GoPro

Although we are big GoPro fans here at Unsponsored HQ the principles that follow will also work very well with the Contour, Drift and all other action cameras.

The Middle Of The Mountains

Most of the kayaking videos we see focus solely on the action side of things. This edit from Zac Ruttiman also gives us the lifestyle perspective. I love it.

Escape Watersports – Werner Odatchi And Camino

I’m currently looking at the Unsponsored Archives and have found several posts from the 2015 Paddle Expo in Germany last September. I’ll be posting these over the next few days. In addition to the photos and videos that I took I had been sent a few other bits and and bobs. The guys from Escape Watersports were out and about at Paddle Expo. Here they take a closer look at the Werner Odatchi and Camino.

Lettmann Granate XL – Paddle Expo 2015

I must have taken the best part of 1000 photos at the Paddle Expo this year. It was a great weekend and it was fantastic to be welcomed to stands by manufacturers and distributers from across the globe. All were keen to talk about products and have photos taken. We made some new contacts, met some old friends and made some new ones.

Dagger RPM Max Contour Outfitting

Some time ago we posted detail of a Contour outfitting modification that Pat Keller had carried out on a Dagger RPM. It looked pretty sweet. However Philip Middleton has gone one step further and not only has he fitted the seat and thigh braces but has also retrofitted the step out pillar and footrests. So this RPM Max now has a complete set of Contour outfitting installed.
