Small World Adventures enters an exciting new phase as previous owners buy back the company
Small World Adventures, the longest standing white water outfitter in Ecuador, is now under new management. Previous owners, guidebook authors and Ecuador whitewater veterans Don Beveridge and Darcy Gaetcher, have bought back their company three years after leaving. Joining them as co-owner is former Small World Adventures guide and friend Liam Kirkham.
Small World Adventures are proud to own the largest kayak fleet in Ecuador and offer guided, all inclusive, week long whitewater adventures in Ecuador, from class II to class V paddling through November to March; with bookings now being taken for the 2016-2017 season. Guests can expect to paddle each of the seven days they are with Small World, tackling the best whitewater Ecuador has to offer whilst based at a luxury lodge on the Quijos river.
During their three year hiatus Don and Darcy expanded their experience, kayaking and guiding in a vast selection of destinations including Kenya, USA, Nepal, Uganda and Bhutan, often accompanied by fellow co-owner Liam. Don and Darcy also paddled the entire Amazon from source to sea, making Darcy the first woman to ever complete it.
Following their extensive travels Don and Darcy decided it was time to head ‘home’. Darcy Gaetcher stated “After scouring the world for new kayaking destinations, we found many new and incredible places to kayak, but we’ve also realised that nothing quite compares to Ecuador. We haven’t found any other place with such a high concentration of excellent rivers and we can’t wait to get back and guide on our favourite runs again. I can already imagine my smile after landing ‘The Best Boof in the World’ on the Upper Jondachi.”
Liam Kirkham, based in the UK, is a highly experienced kayaker; with fifteen years paddling experience in thirteen countries he has previously guided for Small World Adventures in both Ecuador and the Grand Canyon, as well as guided with Don and Darcy in Bhutan and conducted his own commercial trips in Nepal.
Small World’s expert guides will make the guest’s trip fun and easy as they use their extensive experience to get them on a great river at a good level each and every day.
