Zet Toro – First Impressions

Nick Pearce gives us his initial thoughts on the new Zet Toro.

Earlier this week I was lucky enough for my new Toro to arrive in Voss. Now the days here are getting very short and there is a good layer of snow up high, winter is defiantly just around the corner. And It will be time for skiing. But not quite yet so yesterday we got on the Raundalselvi and I was able to put the Toro though it’s paces.

First impressions, it’s simply amazing but here is a bit of a break down on the boat.

TV2 Norway – Kayaking Accident Story

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 13.07.54

In July 2014 Josh Neilson was kayaking with friends in Norway near Sjoa. After 5 of his crew paddled ‘Matzes Drop’ it was his turn. After a good entry the nose of his kayak was thrust into the air and caused him to fly through the air and land at the bottom in an undesirable way. At the moment of impact he broke his back and had to be flown to Lillehammer hospital and then on to Elverum for surgery. One year of rehab later and he returns to Voss in Norway for Ekstremsportveko and to go kayaking. This is the story by TV2 on his accident and return to kayaking.

Reader’s Ride 2015 – Nick Pearce

portage

Name: Nick Pearce

Location: I split my time between Somerset and Voss, Norway

I have been paddling for the last 11 years and during that time, I have been lucky enough to paddle in some of the coolest locations around the world from the UK to Chile, France, India and New Zealand. My personal favorite and the place that constantly draws me back is Norway. It’s a land full of amazing rivers with still so much undiscovered potential. For the last 5 years I have spent my life working as a raft guide which allowed me to be closer to the river and to get as much boating in as possible. I also have the pleasure of being supported by some of the best companies on the market: Zet UK, AS watersports, System X and Silverstick.

Voss Extreme Sport Veko – Kayaking – Lego Movie

Screen Shot 2014-06-13 at 22.13.32

After the Race day Thursday and then the party that night we were moving pretty slow on Friday! We had this concept and decided to shoot the stop motion while a little hung over and waiting for the crew to arrive then headed to a creek known as Butt Crack Creek! Continue reading

Voss Extreme Sports Week – Wednesday – Kayaking

Voss Extreme sports Week – Wednesday – Kayaking from Southern Underground Productions on Vimeo.

Over the years the males dominated the Todays Video reels and I wanted to change that. I set out with an idea to capture the epic nature of the female kayakers at extreme sport week. The idea was to show what girls are thought to be doing but then changing into what they are really up to! Marian, Katrina, Jenny and Nini are featured here running some of the biggest rapids in the area and styling it! I little humor and a lot of epicness!

Check back this year at Extreme Sports Week for more from these chicks!

Voss’s Secret

Here is a edit of a not very well know run just 10 mins from Voss this is the little gem that was shown to me this year and I think is possibly the most fun close to Voss.

Voss’s Secret from nick pearce on Vimeo.

From the first time I ran this section I have wanted to film it’s just so cool.

Hope you like it.

Norway – VEKO

Water levels here in Voss have been fairly consistent since we arrived. We’ve managed to get on most of the major runs now and maybe before we leave we may get on something new. We’re all hoping for some action on double drop but despite the grey skies the rain hasn’t really come and its still not running.

Norway I

It’s 2 days into my Norway trip, I’ll try and update this as often as I can although internet is a little hard to come by. So far things have been sweet. Yesterday we started with the appropriately named Zambezi section whilst on the way to Voss. After a lovely night camped under the bridge we got on the upper Mykdal (don’t know how to spell it) followed be the upper and racecourse sections of the Brandseth. We also headed over to Money drop which had quite a lot of water. Barney went 1st, got about 5 seconds of down time, his deck popped and we eventually rescued his boat with some big dents in it. The rest of us will probably wait until the levels drop a bit.
