Continue readingHawaii is clearly already known for being a paradise to vacation to, and while that is definitely true. I know the Big Island of Hawaii to be home of one of the greatest rivers the in the world, the Wailuku. Located in Hilo, Hawaii, it has 2 sections that are some of the best joy sections I ever get to experience. Both sections can be down down to bare bones levels, but once it rains you can also step it up and fall off some bigger drops. I find it almost impossible to not come back every winter, and I don’t plan on stopping coming anytime soon. We got our first day of shredding at the perfect level for the bomb sections, as well as get one of the stouts. Such an epic start to the trip, and can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring!

Continue readingThe water was coming up slightly every day during the trip, but the last few days it really started to make bigger jumps in the level. Since the water was higher and we had gotten our fill downstream we decided to head up for a lap of the minus rapids. Here is a quick GoPro mashup of the minus rapids and the last few days enjoying one of my favorite rivers of all time!

Last year I got to lead Bren, and this year I got the pleasure of being able to lead Adrian. In the end as long as they are ok at kayaking the Zambezi is nothing but just JOY big water for a few hours every day. But for the trip to begin right, I had to beta Adrian for the run, which usually just summed up to telling him to aim for the biggest holes…

This summer Dane Jackson and I met up in California to run down the famous West Cherry Creek. This was fun time down the run and I was absolutely blown away with the gorgeous scenery and giant granite slides and rapids. It was truly incredible and I can’t wait to get back in there. Check out some of our little 2-day adventure in the California wilderness.
