When I outlined my current GoPro setup a few weeks ago I highlighted the fact that I wasn’t 100% convinced that the GoPro Anti-Fog Inserts would work.

The GoPro Anti-Fog Inserts pack contains six inserts along with with a Humonitor and a pouch of what is probably silica gel to keep moisture away from the inserts. The inserts can be used up to a total of 4 times before they meed to be heated up to 300 degrees F for five minutes to dry out. I have tried this a couple of times without issue.

Throughout the winter months I haven’t had a major issue with the GoPro fogging up. The air temperature and water temperature hadn’t been a million miles apart which had been the key. As the year has warmed up the difference and the resulting misting within the GoPro case has become apparent.

I tested the system using two cameras. One with the inserts and the other without. Both cameras and kit had been stored in the same environment and were used on the same rivers with the same conditions.

Over the last few weeks there has been a marked difference in the clarity of the shots from the two cameras. In the most extreme cases the film in the non insert camera was almost useless whilst the other was crystal clear. Given this fact alone the inserts will be an accessory that I will definitely be using from now on.
