GoPro HD Kayak/Kayaking Mount Options

Here are a few of options for mounting your GoPro to a kayak or canoe.

1. Rear grab handle mount (Raised)

2. Boat mount

3. Paddle Mount (Using a GoPro Handle Bar Mount)

4. Helmet Mount

5. Grip Mount

6. Chest Mount

I have used at the vented helmet strap mount a couple of times and have attached it to my buoyancy aid to rig up a chest harness. The much lower filming position is pretty good. The risk of bashing the camera/head is also reduced. The video below was filmed using the chest mount position.

Hi, I am interested in mounting a GoPro for a kayak trip this summer but don’t want to use any adhesive mounts as I am only borrowing the camera. I had thought about attaching it to my PFD but I am not sure how secure it will be. Did it feel like it was wobbling when you were paddling at Tees Barrage or would you recommend this method?

You don’t really feel it move, although the video does pick up some movement at times. You can use the vented helmet strap to successfully mount to the front of your PFD. I have done this a couple of times with success.
