The Ladakh River Festival, Lardo, Indus. On the famous intimidating class 4 LARDO section.
With an altitude over 3000m the event punished those unprepared.
The skill level of the local paddlers has skyrocketed over the last few years, with local paddlers taking podium places from visiting Himalayan veterans in all races.
Stars of the event where Ashu Rawat, Manish Dhakar and Daman Singh with outstanding confidence inspiring runs throughout. Daman walking away overall champion.
This is the third year and the field was a great mix of international and local kayakers. Paddlers from the UK, Denmark, Russia, Australia and Canada battled it out with Indian and Nepali paddlers.
The event is organised by Tsering Chotak from Ladakh and is a real highlight of the Himalayan season. A must for any visiting international kayaker
Ladakh is blessed with a plethora of amazing rivers from the classic Zanskar, Tsarap Chu, and Indus to the lesser known rivers of Wanla, Nubra and the still likely first descent of the Reru Chu and more.
Look forward seeing you all in 2020.
