The Liquidriot Duo kayak seen in a previous post was photographed a few days ago. In the three days following the original post over 12k people have viewed it, which is quite simply incredible.

The Duo was hand crafted by Newcastle Uni paddlers – Jacob Collings, Matt Rose, Catherine Sanderson, and Angus Mackay. The guys behind the kayak have kindly sent some images of their creation being put together.

The rear portion of the boat is a Liquidlogic Jefe.

The front portion of the Liquidriot is a Riot Magnum. Seats were removed from both along with the rear outfitting of the Magnum and the bow outfitting of the Jefe. This allows for greater access to the parts of the two boats that will be joined together.

The two boats selected were chopped and sliced then initially clamped and then bolted together ensuring that the rear paddler would still fit.

Getting the two shells lined up is pretty crucial. These two hulls were never designed to be used like this so making sure that the new kayak was at least straight will make a massive difference to how the final hull will paddle. When the Jefe was inserted within the Magnum the aim was to keep the hull of the boat as flat as possible.

Holes were repaired with a combination of plastic plates fastened with pop rivets and welding.

Filler sheets of boat plastic were used to fill in the gaps. Loads of plastic plates have been welded and bolted into the kayak.

On the water the boat looked pretty composed and could easily handle the force from playing in stoppers and pulling off pop outs.
