Reno River Festival 2014

Another Reno River festival is in the books, and it was an interesting one for sure. We started off the festivities in the Ninkasi Penthouse overlooking the WW park for judges meetings and a out of town boater party. Needless to say the beer was top notch and the parings of the different beers with good cheese was a nice high brow surprise for all us river bums. Saturday brought on the freestyle competition and some really funky weather.

Last Saturday saw the second annual British University Creek Race take place in Glen Etive. Perfect medium water levels allowed for a challenging but fun day of racing. The student race course was comprised of two runs of the middle Etive and a final lap of the Allt A’ Chaorainn. 23 students and 7 old boys took to the river with Callum Strong and Beth Morgan taking the student titles, while David Bain took the title in the old boys race. A Northern Gathering – Tees Race 2014

A great little event took place today. A number of like minded friends got together and paddled a great piece of water. The water was low but the day was still superb.

Student Boater X 2013

The 2013 Student Boater X is taking place on the 22nd of June. For a little flavour of what it is all about check out this write up from Jack Roberston about last years event. Enjoy!

The Student Boater X is the biggest unofficial kayaking event on the student paddling calendar and now officially recognised by Bomb Flow it was going to be the biggest so far. With guaranteed sun, cool alpine flows and a huge selection of prize to be won it wasn’t hard to persuade a few hundred student paddlers that a spontaneous inter uni race down the L’Argentiere-la-Bessee slalom course was a good idea. There were five categories, catering for all levels of paddler. With old boys and girls competing for the Bloater X title and swimmers for the Inflatey X title, everyone else found themselves in a fight for the beginner, intermediate and advanced prizes.
