Earlier this year Steve Fisher and Pat Keller ran the Merced river the Yosemite National Park (USA).

Episode one from Outside TV gives a pretty good feel of what is to come. I am not convinced about the “Professional Stunt. Do Not Attempt” warnings through this edit.

Liquidlogic Braaap – Review

A lot of people are hyped about Liquid Logic Kayaks newest boat the Braaap 69. The Braaap is built off of a slalom and creek boat foundation, and is meant to give paddlers a new and improved way to run the river.

BRaap1

My first time in the Braaap was at the Cheoah River near Robbinsville NC, it was surprising as I wasn’t planning on paddling a prototype boat when I arrived at the put-in that morning. After my first lap my group and I went back up to run a 2nd lap on the bottom half of Cheoah, this is where we caught up with Hunt Jennings. After a few minutes of talking and reversing shuttle I had managed to talk Hunt into letting me take the Braaap down for that lap.

Flying the Flying Squirrel!

Flying the Flying Squirrel

Excited to be back paddling and back on the Green after suffering a rib injury before the Green Race. This time though, things are a bit different. Picked up a new LiquidLogic Flying Squirrel and man is this thing sweet. It’s got so much speed and glide to it, it just makes running the Green that much cooler.

Liquidriot Duo Kayak

Somethings shouldn’t work but they just do. How about creating a Duo kayak from a couple of damaged creek boats that you might have lying around? Sounds pretty good, a nice little weekend project.

The kayak below was spotted at the 2015 National Student Rodeo here in the UK.

Here’s some inspiration from the UK, the home of 19th century industrial dominance – the LiquidRiot Duo kayak.

The Liquid Logic Flying Squirrel vs. The Pyranha 9R

Amy and I are considering purchasing a new kayaks and were curious about two new boats: the Liquid Logic Flying Squirrel and the Pyranha 9R. Both boats are sub-nine foot boats designed to go fast. I was especially intrigued by the looks of the 9R, and Amy was excited by the buzz about the Flying Squirrel. When Woody Callaway of Liquid Logic offered a Flying Squirrel 85 for a test run, we decided to see if we could make a complete investigation.
