Kayakers vs Whirlpools – As the Ottawa river begins to rise the eddylines start to get way more powerful and at the top of the Butchers Knife rapid, some really powerful whirlpools begin to form!

It is still pretty cold out there. The guys have made it to the Ottawa.
We made it to the Ottawa but levels are still low as the melt hasn’t started yet- but we can literally smell spring right now!
Soon the Ottawa will change entirely and we will be surfing big waves, but for now it’s joy laps on class III which is not the end of the world either.

Just an hours drive East of Ottawa runs Chutes De Plaisance, Québec. Joel Kowalski and Devyn Scott drove up from the Ottawa Valley for a few laps of the drops while water levels held. As the rain let go and a foggy day lingered, we found magic. Continue reading
The WWGP 2014 went off…I was so lucky that my leg healed in time to get re-invited and compete in the sickest event in Whitewater kayaking. Can’t believe I am where I am right now walking away from two successful weeks of paddling hard in Quebec!
