A great deal of outdoor equipment passes through the halls of Unsponsored HQ. Some great, some good and some not so good. As we get closer to the 25th of December it has now become a little bit of tradition (and to save me answering loads of “What should I get ….. for Christmas, they have just got into kayaking/canoeing/SUP?” type questions via email) to put together a list of gear for our Festive Gift Guide that paddlers and general outdoors type folk might appreciate as presents at Christmas time.

Bob helped Andy start Palm; building their first kayaks together. Bob instilled the ethos of ‘can make; will make; make it better’ as our technical director. Never more happy than in his overalls with an angle grinder in hand, he is responsible for Palm having a purpose-built factory with its own rotomoulding oven – all built by Bob.

The throwline comes equipped with 15m of 9.5mm floating rope. Compared to the 18m of 7.5mm rope used in the HF weasel and 18m of 8mm line used within the Palm Equipment Lightning throw bags.

After a few years in development Palm Equipment has revealed the Shuck helmet. I tried out a 3D printed Shuck almost two years ago but was sworn to secrecy. It took a few days to print and was super heavy.
Roll on a couple of years and the Shuck has been released into the world.
Epic first day in India! We paddled the Iri Janipura river which was massive and we think it is the highest descent so far. Levels where rising on us throughout our session which made it pretty intimidating and we where all pretty stoked to be off the river at the bottom. Got into a good old cluster f**k and couldn’t find our driver, waited in the rain for a few hours before being rescued… So far India has been awesome!
A one-of-a-kind hand drawn Shuck helmet by Amy Dunis (Adventurous Pencil) … putting an appreciation for the wild places we love down in pen and ink.
