Liquid Logic Pop/Skip

Since the advent of the short park n' play kayak many manufacturers have entered into this section of the market. Liquid Logic kayaks are imported into the UK by System X. I was unable to get in the Skip as it was too small for me, so I took the Pop out for a spin. I'm 6ft 2in and felt pretty comfortable in the Pop; the seat seemed pretty large but hadn't been padded out for me. I took a demo out at HP and the Teesside ww course for a quick spin a couple of weeks ago. This is what I thought.

In the wave it spun pretty fast, but the boat would not happily grind on the wave. The second the boat was sideways it started falling off the wave pretty quickly. The extreme rocker made this boat bounce a lot on the wave as well, which reminded me of the Pyranha Attak. I felt a bit out of control at first but once I got used to it, I started having a lot of fun, being able spin easily and even blunt.

The boat is also fairly easy to flat water cartwheel and performs quite well on edge when in the wave. The boat was very comfortable to paddle and I loved the ratchets for the backrest on the thigh braces. Pretty common now but the ratchet system felt good and secure and seemed like it would do many years service without hassle. This boat and its little brother seem fairly popular with many examples seen over the past few weeks. I think this is rightly so. It's a good boat that will give the Riot Disco a run for its money.
