This is a lovely grade 2 section of river with 1 weir just before the end of the river.
You get on just below Tarr steps, an ancient stone bridge and are immediately into the grade 2.
The rapids follow one after the other and are of a rocky ledge type rather than bolder gardens.
Around 1km from the start there is currently (6-11-04) a tree across the river that in low water a bit of limbo river right, in medium water conditions this would be a portage in high water conditions a portage or possible paddle over the top. Don't try river left.
Around 2/3rds of the way down just above a cattle bridge is a natural weir that provides a spinable and surfable wave.
Soon you start to get into civilisation again which brings the only weir on the river. In high water this can prove dangerous causing a fatality in 1998.
Shortly after the weir are two rapids that can be played on, I have always found the second more interesting than the first of these. The get out is a ramp on the left just before the bridge.
A beginners river rather than a playboaters river!
