Old School Series – End Game

My copy of Corran Addison’s new movie arrived safely from Canada. The order was made via Corran’s site www.2imagine.net and my Pay pal account. I ordered the DVD version which meant I had to have a multi region DVD player since it is a NTSC version as apposed to the UK PAL format. Most UK machines can handle this but check yours before you order.

endgame

The movie starts of with a very Python-esque title sequence before Corran’s narration begins and we are introduced to the main paddlers and the “plan”.

Liquid Logic Instafit Footrest

I first saw the Instafit system on Boaterinformation.com when the new LL boats were displayed at the Salt Lake City Outdoor retailer show. I was intrigued! A simple idea – but would it work.

llinsta1

Well Liquid Logic and the UK importers SystemX were kind enough to send one of the 1st Instafits into the UK my way. So this morning I ripped the foam bulkhead out of my Prijon Release and headed down to the water for a few hours boating. Continue reading

Old School Series – Still Twitchin

This video is the third one in the Twitch series. And can often be caught on the Extreme Sports channel every couple of months, so no need to buy!

stilltwitchin

The action is a nice mix of huge water, creek and play. The editing is very slick and the music not offensive (to me anyway). The use of a helmet camera adds a new dimension and helps keep the interest levels up. The section on Skook in particular is damn good.

The performance of the paddlers is stunning with some of the lines being run being absolutely crazy. Overall a good balance/mix thats worth checking out. 30 minutes of pure kayak eye candy.

Facebook

Unsponsored has had a presence on Facebook for just a short while and has almost 1500 likes.

It would be awesome to hit the 1500 by the end of this weekend.

Many thanks for the continued support.

Unsponsored Q&A Series – Louise Jull

Through Unsponsored I have been fortunate to get in contact with the best paddlers and kayak designers in the world. Louise Jull falls right inside of this category. Whether it’s in slalom, freestyle or steep creek extreme river racing Louise is pushing the envelope. A truly superb paddler (see the video below) and great ambassador for the sport. I am stoked that Louise has kindly agreed to take part in the Unsponsored 2013 Q&A series – enjoy!

Tell us a little a bit about you accomplishments in the canoeing/kayaking world.

From 2008-2011 I represented New Zealand in our National Senior Team on the international Slalom Circuit. At the end of 2011 I made the switch to doing a lot more river-running and Extreme Racing. Competing at the White Water Grand Prix in Chile was a highlight but the progress I made in my paddling in 2012 was good, I managed to get on a lot of different rivers and performed well sticking some good lines in New Zealand, California, Colorado, Norway and South America.

Old School Series – Sick Line 3

Sick Line 3 is the long awaited sequel from Olaf Obsommer and Jens Klatt. Available on DVD Sick Line 3 lasts 63 minutes and includes (as extras) Sick Line 1 & 2. Not a bad deal at all.

sickline3

Sick Line 3 has an all star line up including;

Arnd Shaftlen, Francesco Salvato, Corran Addison, Ben Brown, Deb Pinneger, Cheesy, Mikey Abbott and Ellan Allard and more.

If you want high class creeking from New Zealand, Central Europe, and Norway then Sick Line fits the bill.

Kit Update March 2013

I have had several emails asking for another run down of my kit and how it is holding up, so here goes.

First and foremost my Astral Brewer shoes haven’t had a look in. Time and time again I go for the Five Ten Water Tennies. Through the winter they have been great. They’ve performed well on wet greasy rock, mud and snow/ice. The laces and eyelets are all in place and the soles are wearing incredibly well.
