If you didn’t check out the post about the #themystery you need to have a read of that before going any further.
Day: 22 August 2017
We’ve just had this in direct from Spade Kayaks.
Olli Grau has put the following Black Jack detail together:
The Spade Kayaks Black Jack is a modern white water kayak that perfectly bridges the gap between a river runner and a creek boat. High volume and high rocker give him the dry line ability and bouancy that a full on creek boat needs. A flat bottom and a pronounced rail deliver dynamic reactivity even on mellower waters.
Lowri Davies is hosting a Fun-Draising Event on the 2nd of September 2017. If you are in the UK that weekend it will be worth a trip out, that I am sure.
Details:
An afternoon and evening of fun and shenanigans, both on and off the water to help raise money towards Lowri Davies representing Great Britain at the World Freestyle Championships out in Argentina.
As an added bonus, Canoe Wales will match all donations! So effectively ALL DONATIONS WILL BE DOUBLED!
I hate trees. Most of my river swims have been a result of a close encounter with a tree strung across the river.
Sam Ellis hooked up with a tree a couple of days back on the Lower Vent. This was a lucky escape.
I met with the guys from Spade Kayaks almost two years ago in Nuremberg at the Paddle Expo. Despite the Ace of Spades only being out for a short period of time I asked them about the next kayak. Even then a design called the Black Jack or “Jack” was already being thought about.
Today (22 August 2017) the Black Jack will start coming of the production line. The Ace of Spades, Spade kayaks first production kayak was and still is blow molded.
It seems to me that both kayaking and canoeing as a competitive sport contributes highly to the the success of Team GB as a whole. Whether it is slalom, downriver racing, polo or freestyle the UK are right up there as one of the big hitters year in and year out. Yet funding to get UK team members out to freestyle competitions to represent our country is lacking.
Welcome to Movie Monday 21 August 2017, on a Tuesday! It must still be Monday somewhere, right?
Enjoy!
