I thought I’d do a quick round up of how my main kit is holding up.

The Palm Spark suit has now become my go to piece of kit and my Immersion Research Double D drysuit now has a new home. I absolutely love the zip position on the Spark and can open and close the zip without anyone else’s assistance which is a great plus. My Spark doesn’t have any built in socks so I tend to wear a pair of Sandiline socks which have been a great purchase. If I can manage without the suit for a few days I will send it back to Palm to have some socks retro fitted. You can read my views on the Palm Spark in ThePaddler.

My Five Ten Water Tennies are also doing well and have proved to be pretty good in the snow and ice as well as on muddy or greasy river banks. The soles are wearing really well and the fabric is holding up nicely. It also turns out that the soles are pretty well insulated so I haven’t experienced the pleasure of having cold feet during all this snow and ice.

The IR Kingon Empire deck has been used a hell of a lot since it was purchased and has been used on loads of different boats. It’s wearing well and isn’t showing any signs of being over stretched. There are a few “clicks” on the kevlar re-enforcement from trees/bushes. It also seems to hold the dirt really well.

The custom full cranked carbon Vertical Element paddles that were made up have simply had a hammering and are still great. Blade wear is really good, even after extensive use on artificial whitewater courses.

The new Sweet Strutter is my lid of choice now. So much so I have picked up another for my GF to use. For some reason it feels warmer than the old version, not sure if this is the case but so far this winter I haven’t worn my Playboater Earwig for extra warmth.
