Arnside Tidal Bore Fail And Win

Gavin Hart and team went to try and surf the Arnside Tidal Bore, Cumbria on the 23rd and 24th March 2019.

The bore itself was shockingly naff but the features under the railway bridge that are created on the incoming tide were pretty fun whilst there for an hour or so. Highly recommend as a local playspot.

River Mint – Cumbria

The rain has hit many parts of the UK and the rivers in some areas have been huge, just not anywhere near Unsponsored HQ. This reminded me of one of my last flood level trips early last year. On the 25th February 2017 Team Unsponsored ran the Mint in Cumbria (UK). The end of that week had seen storm Dorris hit the UK with high winds and significant amounts of rain for majority of the North. This resulted in high water levels for the few hours we were on the river.

Scouting the leven in tasty flows!

Location: Ambleside, Cumbria

YO! Originally from Limerick Ireland, now living, studying and paddling in the Lake District. I started paddling with the scouts when I was 16 and was hooked immediately. I learnt to paddle mainly in Ireland with a few welsh trips thrown in along the way. I realised paddling is the lifestyle for me and after and an Italian and Slovenian trip in the summer of 2014. I have been looking to paddle bigger water since then.

Carnage On Stock Ghyll

Matthew Carey and Vin Baker check out Stock Ghyll here in the UK. Good water levels a good level carnage. Happily all paddlers are safe and well. Enjoy.

Another English Lakes WW classic.

The river Sprint getting the pole treatment, I was accompanied by Josh Litten and Anthony. It was at a fairly tasty level of 0.9 on the EA gauge.

Kent On A Pole

The River Kent is classic WW run in the English Lake District. A superb river when the levels are right.

Enjoying the Kent with Tom Hainsworth at a good level (1.1)

It had been over a month since I paddled, and I noticed it! Too many back strokes and the odd not so perfect line. On the plus side kayaking still makes me smile 🙂
