A cold and wet day was had sitting on rescue rock yesterday. Water levels on the North Tyne were not bad and were on the rise for the whole day. It was great to see so many new paddlers take to the water and take on the challenge of Wardens Gorge.
There didn’t seem to be as many capsizes at the bottom of the gorge as usual but quite a few at the very top with a number of paddlers ending up swimming the entire gorge.
We have had some series rain over the last month here in the North East of England. The water table is topped up and it doesn’t take much to get the rivers flowing high.
The River Tees from High Force to Low Force isn’t that #sTEESy at high levels. Mathew Wilkinson takes a dip and swims with a little help to safety.
Today was the 2015 Rat Race right here in Stockton On Tees. Once again the Tees Barrage International Whitewater Centre hosted part of the race. Here are a few photographs of the event.
