Giant Slalom 2014! Sunday morning a group of partially hung-over advanced kayakers met up to run the second annual Giant Slalom race at the Slave River Paddlefest. This year we had three “gates”: touch river left, touch river right, touch an island, then touch the finish. Racers could touch anywhere on the bank, allowing a large variety of lines. Good times were had by all! Continue reading

Sometimes people ask me: “why did I choose kayaking ?”. Most of the time they don’t really know what kayaking is and I’m struggling to give them an answer although I know it is really simple. So this is kayaking and this is why I love it so much! Continue reading
A superb edit from this years Morriston River Race by Martyn Butler.

The 3rd annual Morriston River Race came about this May and it did not disappoint. Here’s a short edit from the race which I managed to film in between racing along with the help of Sam and Ryan.

After a couple of years off, the team from Caol Ila decided to have another shot at the Scottish Islands Peaks Race. For us who are not regular runners, it takes a fair bit of effort to get from practically zero fitness into a state where we feel we can take on the SIPR hills. This year we were helped by having a couple of new guys join the team for the first time: My friend Andy from Dundee Uni Rucksack Club days and his mate Dave, both of whom are proper hill runners (especially Dave).

Last Saturday saw the second annual British University Creek Race take place in Glen Etive. Perfect medium water levels allowed for a challenging but fun day of racing. The student race course was comprised of two runs of the middle Etive and a final lap of the Allt A’ Chaorainn. 23 students and 7 old boys took to the river with Callum Strong and Beth Morgan taking the student titles, while David Bain took the title in the old boys race. Whitewater Kayaking around the North & South Islands of New Zealand- Summer of 2014. Including Treetrunk Gorge, Huka Falls, Kaituna River, Wairoa River, Waitaha River, Kawerau River etc.
A great little event took place today. A number of like minded friends got together and paddled a great piece of water. The water was low but the day was still superb.

More action from this years Galway Fest.
Voss Extreme sports Week – Wednesday – Kayaking from Southern Underground Productions on Vimeo.
Over the years the males dominated the Todays Video reels and I wanted to change that. I set out with an idea to capture the epic nature of the female kayakers at extreme sport week. The idea was to show what girls are thought to be doing but then changing into what they are really up to! Marian, Katrina, Jenny and Nini are featured here running some of the biggest rapids in the area and styling it! I little humor and a lot of epicness!
Check back this year at Extreme Sports Week for more from these chicks!
