Thompson River After/During Hurricane Joaquin

The category 4 Hurricane Joaquin brought some serious rain to the South East of United States. With flood warnings and most of the rivers rising incredibly fast, we decided to run Thompson Creek, one of the steepest stretches of whitewater in the East Coast with a staked loss of 800ft. in less than a mile, before the river meets Lake Jocassee.

This run is one of the high lights of my 5 months long trip to the States and I feel blessed for the opportunity of catching it on a good level, with an awesome crew and with the right timing for the access road that its only open during hunting season.
