I spoke to Corran for some time at Paddle Expo about how he creates his designs.  I&#8217;m saving the detail for its own post, however it seems to be working.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here is the detail from Soul Waterman.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The hull of this boat is simple, and fluid. It\u2019s designed to flow with the water, not fight it. Quick acceleration, with great top end speed. It turns on a dime both on rail and flat, and resurfaces quickly with forward momentum: these are the attributes you\u2019re looking for in a creek boat. You want it to boof just because you were thinking of boofing, accelerate to a fast cruising speed in just two or three strokes, and turn with so little effort that at the end of a long day you\u2019re still full of energy. That\u2019s how you have fun creeking. That\u2019s how you stay safe.<\/p>\n<p>The outfitting as been stripped down, and then rebuilt. The focus was on reducing weight, keeping the boat stiff, and staying functional with minimal hassle. An extruded carbon center beam runs along the hull, pinned down front and back by vertical beams secured to a flange that runs down from the cockpit. The seat is a simple, comfortable molded foam section held in place with velcro, reducing weight, and can be moved in seconds without tools. The back band runs on a plastic rail, keeping it high and stiff, yet still rotates under you when you lean back. This can be tension-released for flatwater paddling without removing your skirt, and is adjusted without the use of tools. The hip pads attach to the cockpit flange without webbing straps and buckles, and is easily adjusted forward and back, up and down. The thigh brace can be adjusted three dimensionaly without tools \u2013 forward and back, rotating to more or less hook, and pivoted on itself to fit your leg size.The bulkhead footrest is attached to two side rails that is adjusted a click at a time just like the old time slalom footrests making it light and safe.  There are no ratchets, ropes, pulleys, straps, water absorbing padding, or other nonsense to clutter the cockpit.
