The Nevis is an over the head slab PFD with a number of features I have not seen before in a PFD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nevis PFD is the culmination of research from UCLan, design by Barney Caulfield and testing worldwide by Bren Orton. At its core is the Delta Fit adjustment system. Two wings that wrap your ribs, reducing pressure on your abdomen, helping you to breathe and increasing mobility. Set-up to go in five fluid steps, with fewer buckles (including new load tested aircraft grade aluminium hardware). The Nevis has the world\u2019s first Piggyback adjustable quick release chest harness, improving upon the latest research, so that releasing your harness doesn\u2019t affect the fit of your PFD. The Nevis sets a new standard in fit and safety.<\/p>Palm Equipment<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This is the new Rescue harness that Palm Equipment have developed over the last few years. We’ll take a closer look at this in the full review. One interesting point to note is that is formed from different coloured pieces of webbing. In this case red and blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Split D-rings are found at the front of the PFD so you can clip in your Cow tail on either side. The sewn webbing on the front of the clam shell pocket is another place to attach gear such as a river knife. There is also a press studded pocket behind it that is perfect for a folding river knife if you like to keep the front of your PFD clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it is metal it has been anodised. In this case in blue. These look and feel like they are super high quality and remind me of the buckles you often see on climbing harnesses. The aircraft grade aluminium buckles are load tested and are marked 3.2kN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both shoulder straps have SOLAS reflective strips within in them. They can be seen to the front and rear of the PFD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The silicon strips shown in the image below are on the inside front section of the Nevis and are designed to help keep the PFD in place and prevent it from riding up. Most companies put these types of strips on the waist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are what looks like two zipped pockets on the top section of the front slab. This is in fact one massive tunnel pocket that has two ways to access it. It is huge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front clamshell pocket opens to reveal of stretchy storage compartments and daisy chain webbing for clipping gear into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see the one we have here is M\/L. This fits me well. 70N of Gaia non-PVC buoyancy foam is found inside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the rear of the PFD you can see the blue section of the rescue belt webbing working its way through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The APC easy catch O-ring (available separately)<\/a> comes supplied as standard on the Nevis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ok we are nearly done with pockets. There is one more on the inside front panel. It has Velcor closure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
