{"id":4105,"date":"2012-11-28T21:17:13","date_gmt":"2012-11-28T21:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unsponsored.co.uk:\/press\/?p=4105"},"modified":"2014-06-28T19:48:00","modified_gmt":"2014-06-28T18:48:00","slug":"kayak-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unsponsored.co.uk\/press\/kayak-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Kayak Theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In certain parts of the world boat theft is a serious problem and given that most whitewater kayaks are close to \u00a31000 it&#8217;s a pretty serious and probably very lucrative business.<\/p>\n<p>My boat storage at home is pretty secure but I do feel that my kayak is at its most vulnerable when it is sat on the car.  My current car has a roof rack that securely bolts to the car which means that it is fairly easy to lock my kayak to the rack and know that it is relatively secure.<\/p>\n<p>I have used one of these really simple <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/product\/B005QLHKZQ\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1634&#038;creative=6738&#038;creativeASIN=B005QLHKZQ&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=unsponsocouk-21\" target =\"blank\">Playboater Rackguards<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.co.uk\/e\/ir?t=unsponsocouk-21&#038;l=as2&#038;o=2&#038;a=B005QLHKZQ\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> for a few years. It&#8217;s great for quickly securing the kayak to either the cars roof rack or even the cars tow loop\/wheel if the boat is on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The key is to wrap the cable around\/through parts of the kayak that are hard to loosen off or remove.  I like a loop around the seat pillar and through one of the rescue loops\/handles as they tend to be fastened on using security bolts anyway.<\/p>\n<p><a trapped inside of the car, although I do know of a couple of instances where doors have been wedged open to release the ball.<\/p>\n<p><a
