We are big fans of the Nikon range of cameras at Unsponsored HQ and have worked our way from the Nikon D70 through to the Nikon D500 over the past few years. All of the images taken for the site have been taken with a Nikon camera of one sort or another. Mid 2016 we added the Nikon D500 to the gear list. We wanted a fast, and good low light performer that would be able to cope with the varying conditions we often find ourselves in. As we had been shooting with Nikon DX bodies for so long we had a good range of glass to use with the D500 but needed a new (to me) type of memory card as the D500 runs both a SD and XQD card.

Palm Equipment have launched the new Arun thermal baselayer set.

From Palm:
Palm’s high-performance Arun baselayers feature Channel Flow technology that draws and wicks water away, keeping you dry, warm and comfortable. Designed to move and stretch as you do, the soft and supple polyester works together with ActiveSeam stitching to provide you with a new level of layering comfort. Every detail matters, from a lifted collar and dropped rear hem in the Arun top, to a waistband key pocket in the Arun pants – Palm has got you covered. Available in men’s and women’s models.
The Dagger Mamba is a firm favourite here at Unsponsored HQ and for 2018 Dagger Europe are launching the Dagger Mamba Action. This is the same Dagger Mamba shell with the Action Spec outfitting. This lightens the overall package up nicely whilst maintaining loads of adjustability.

Palm Equipment have just launched the new range of Quantum neoprene gear. The range includes men’s, women’s and children’s long johns, men’s and women’s pants and finally some neoprene shorts. Check them out.

Readers, we have all done – or should have done a WW safety course, either an in country one, Rescue 3 or similar. We learn about z drags and mechanical advantage. We should learn about steep ground assessments, we learn to portage, we learn our own boundaries.

It’s 1979 BG (Before GoPro). This is an old photo that Steve Muir managed to find. It shows a tv broadcast camera taped to the front of an Elite 77 slalom kayak to get some onboard whitewater footage.

After the best part of 20 years of existence the Playboater Titanium Earwig will no longer be produced. Sad times.

After starting as a bit of a joke the Pyranha 12R is going into production. Pyranha has received enough interest from the paddling public and Pyranha dealers for the boat to become a reality.

Robin Hood Watersports have the full Waka kayaks 2018 lineup. It’s great to see them lined up with one another.

Check them out.
Corran Addison has recently offered his new F Bomb kayak with Hooptie outfitting. Essentially a new hull design with stripped backed outfitting that can be customised by its owner. Having paddled for over 30 years I remember outfitting boats with bit of foam and plenty of glue. I for one think that this is an excellent idea.

Check it out.
