Old school is the new school for 2018. On the back of a number of slicey designs being brought onto the market Jackson Kayak have revealed the new Mix Master kayak.

This boat has been in the making for absolutely years. We’ve had lots of Phantom news on Unsponsored for some time including #TheMystery kayak which was indeed the Dagger Phantom.

Although this buyers guide is directed at students in reality it will apply to anyone thinking about taking up the sport. Over the next few weeks many students will be starting Uni and will be looking at joining a club. In most cases the Kayak/Canoe club in a university will be the best club to join. That can pretty much be guaranteed.

We’ve posted the computer render and the shaped plug of the new Black Jack from Spade Kayaks. This is an image of the actual boat just out of the mould. The red kayak in the background is another Black Jack.

Pyranha has a new kayak due out very shortly. In addition to the teaser images posted by Pyranha Fraser Watson got a look at the new Pyranha kayak a couple of weeks back at the Tryweryn.
Firstly here are the two Pyranha images.
We have the new Palm Equipment Bolt throwline in for review at Unsponsored HQ. The Bolt is the big brother to the Lightning throwline released last year and replaces the Palm Alpine throwline.
If you didn’t check out the post about the #themystery you need to have a read of that before going any further.
We’ve just had this in direct from Spade Kayaks.
Olli Grau has put the following Black Jack detail together:
The Spade Kayaks Black Jack is a modern white water kayak that perfectly bridges the gap between a river runner and a creek boat. High volume and high rocker give him the dry line ability and bouancy that a full on creek boat needs. A flat bottom and a pronounced rail deliver dynamic reactivity even on mellower waters.
I met with the guys from Spade Kayaks almost two years ago in Nuremberg at the Paddle Expo. Despite the Ace of Spades only being out for a short period of time I asked them about the next kayak. Even then a design called the Black Jack or “Jack” was already being thought about.
Today (22 August 2017) the Black Jack will start coming of the production line. The Ace of Spades, Spade kayaks first production kayak was and still is blow molded.
If Unsponsored were to design and release a brand new kayak into the current market place what would it look like?
Lets go through a few design ideas and see where we end up.
If the Rocker isn’t giving you the protection you need may be the full face version is the one for you. This limited edition version is available in a metallic white and metallic red combination.

The only true difference is the addition of the jaw guard. Materials and construction of the helmet is the same as the Rocker.
