I had a few hours on the water today trying out the new Sweet Intergalactic Dry Suit. Continue reading

Sweet Intergalactic Dry Suit – First Look

Earlier this week a box arrived from Norway containing a very new, hot off the press dry suit – The Sweet Protection Intergalactic Drysuit.

This is of course the highly anticipated Intergalactic Drysuit. Very few details of this actually exist and the number of images are very limited. In fact most have already been on Unsponsored. However I’m now in a very fortunate position of being able to check out the Intergalactic up close and get to give it a go on the water.

Zet Raptor – Review

Zet are relatively new to the UK market but have gathered a loyal band of supporters. The Zet Raptor in particular has been getting quite a lot of attention since it was released.

Palm FX On Steriods – FXr

How do you improve one of the best selling PFDs on the market? How about adding a chest harness and additional knife storage.

Check out the new FXr from Palm. Presumably the R must stand for rescue or may be “really good”.

GoPro Wifi Password Help & Current Setup

Alpkit Manta Headtorch – First Look

I’m a big fan of Alpkit and the kit they produce. Who knows how many Alpkit stuff sacks and dry bags I own! However they do produce so much more. The boys and girls and Alpkit have kindly sent a Manta headtorch over for me to check out.

Unsponsored-rev (1)

The timing on this is excellent as it arrived (lovingly packaged) just in time for an overnight backpacking trip. So here is a quick look at the Manta (a full review to follow).

Palm Impact Spraydeck – First Look

Thanks to Palm Equipment and Northshore Watersports (for piggy backing delivery) I have a Palm Impact Spraydeck in for review. The Palm Impact replaces the Extreme as Palm’s top end neoprene bungee deck. First impressions are good. The deck looks and feels solid. It is well made and the black/lime colour scheme is bang on trend!

Unsponsored-palm 4

On the outside there is a protective 4mm Armortex reinforcement to increase the robustness of the deck. This should make the Impact of interest to those who put their decks through a rough time.

Student Kayak Guide – Surviving Your First Club Trip

Surviving your first Uni Club trip is all about preparation.

Firstly do you have the right kit and/or access to the right kit? If not get the very basics sorted. It’s going to be a miserable trip if you get really cold. Make sure you have a dry set of kit to get changed into at the end of the trip, something nice and warm is always a great idea and include a hat. A large beach towel is good bit of kit to get hold of. You’ll need to put this kit into something and also be able to carry your wet kit home with you. Ikea bags and plastic “bags for life” are superb for this job.

Double check you have everything with you before you leave the house/halls. There is only one thing worse then getting to the mini bus and realising that you have forgotten something critical and that is getting off the bus at the start of the paddle and realising that you have forgotten something critical.
