Although this buyers guide is directed at students in reality it will apply to anyone thinking about taking up the sport. Over the next few weeks many students will be starting Uni and will be looking at joining a club.

In most cases the Kayak/Canoe club in a university will be the best club to join. That can pretty much be guaranteed.

A brand new Yak Taurus PFD has just landed at Unsponsored HQ from the Marine Super Store.

I have to say that this is one of the best looking PFDs I have seen in some time.
Continue readingSo over the last few years I have been lucky enough to be using the APE Element jacket which I believe practical, comfortable and downright amazing. So I thought I would take some time to talk you through my favourite piece of gear which I have been using in that time: The Ape Element jacket!

We had an original YTV PFD a few years ago and were really impressed with both the weight and fit of it. Astral have made some changes to the design. At present the YTV is still not approved for watersports use in the UK or EU but is US Coast Guard Approved.

Although being a UK based and Nookie being a UK based company you wouldn’t have seen a great deal of Nookie gear on the site. This is something that is set to change with some new Nookie gear landing at Unsponsored HQ for review.

First up is the Nookie Rockhopper. It is designed to be at home on the sea, lake, river or play wave. It is an over the head slab style PFD with QR buckles on the right hand side to make it nice and easy to get on.
