Continue readingShipping internationally and even nationally has become a problem in 2021. Corran Addison gives us a break down the issues and the work Soul Waterman is carrying out to get its boats to customers.
Just when you think 2020 can’t be matched, so 2021 comes along to prove you wrong. We’re getting weekly emails now asking “Where is my darn kayak?”.
Continue readingWhat happens if your Wahoo Kickr breaks and you keep riding it?
Kevin Biggs managed to get a cheap Wahoo Kickr that the original owner had listed as damaged and needing repair.
This Kickr had suffered the classic loose woodruff key which led to lots of banging and clunking when the trainer was used. The loose key means that the bearings can move in a way they aren’t meant to, which means they eventually fail.
The following images and words are from Kevin.
The guy ran the trainer for me and it had the usual clonking noise. When I got it home and the cover off it wasn’t obvious what the problem was. I had to hammer the fly-wheel shaft through using a sacrificial bolt screwed in to hit.
Continue readingThanks to Verus Kayaks UK I had the chance to briefly check out the Gladiator 2.0 at the Tees Barrage.
The Gladiator 2.0 is a half slice river runner that sits at 8’11” with a 27″ width.
Here is what Verus have to say about the Gladiator 2.0.
Continue readingThe Gladiator 2.0 is the perfected version of our flagship river runner. Our team has taken this kayak down everything from cruising class II to charging class V creeks. The Gladiator has proven to be the most versatile boat in our quiver. Drawing from slalom designs, the widest part of the Gladiator is right behind the cockpit at 27”. This improves stability for beginners and allows experts to make dynamic moves while running challenging whitewater. The displacement hull is easy to roll, forgiving in chaotic waters and above all, FAST. The new, low-profile stern will spice up your paddling and let you play all the way down your favorite run. Try a Gladiator today and find out what you can unlock from this timeless design.

When I go hill walking or mountain biking I always take snacks and a drink.
I’ve used pretty much all of the “outdoor” branded sports bars out there. They are convenient but after a while eating them becomes a chore. It’s hard work on your jaw. Chocolate melts and packets of sweets are not usually sealed that well. That’s important as I want to be able to carry something in my PFD and not have to rummage in a dry bag buried in the boat.
