We have had a pre-production model of the new large Pyranha 9R at Unsponsored HQ for a few weeks now for review.

We don’t see much in the of Kokatat here in the UK so it was great to check out the neat Kokatat stand. On display up front was the Kokatat Maximus Centurion PFD.
Now the Maximus Centurion isn’t new as its been available since last year. Previous models have been available in navy or yellow, but this one in orange looks the business.
The Yak Highback PFD shown here is a prototype so some tweaks no doubt will be made before it is finally released in 2106.
From the front the PFD looks pretty conventional. Quality fabric, good cut, two large storage pockets and plenty of adjustment. However turn it around and it’s a different story.
On a safety PSA note if you are carrying a throw bag or rescue tape then you should always have the means to cut it if something were to go wrong.
We’ve had the Palm Folding Knife at Unsponsored HQ for quite a few months so I feel it’s time to do a full review.
Another new Palm Equipment product in for review at Unsponsored HQ. This is the new Palm folding knife.
The image below shows the Palm Folding knife with a Spyderco UK Penknife (Orange FRN), and Spyderco Ladybug.
When we first shared the video showing the new Palm Equipment Lightning throwbag in one of the first comments back was that Palm have made the HF Weasel.
Now as a long term HF Weasel user I can see there are clearly comparisons to made.
If it aint broke don’t fix it. Wise words and something that Astral have done. They’ve looked at the Astral Greenjacket 2016 and just moved it on a little adding to the design to take it up yet another notch.
The PeakUK guys have released a couple of new dry suits. They have retained the zipped leg system within the range but have also introduced a pair of Dry Suits with a rear shoulder entry zip. This one being the Deluxe One Piece Drysuit.
If I was ever tempted to buy a sit on top and take up fishing I think that the Perception Pescador Pro might just be the boat to do it. The new design is a real step up from previous versions.
Unsponsored has had a closer look at the Dagger Nomad 2016. When we first shared the news that a new Nomad was on its way hits on the site went crazy for days showing that this really is something that the whitewater kayaking community have welcomed.
Snowy Robertson has worked tirelessly through several iterations of prototype which has resulted in the kayaks shown in the post.
UPDATE: First paddle impressions of the Nomad can be found here.
Team Unsponsored is at this year’s Paddle Expo and I personally wanted to catch up with the team behind Spade Kayaks to find out what is going to be new as we moved forward into 2016.
Over the last few weeks a few images of a “new” Ace of Spades have emerged and after a really good chat with the guys from Spade Kayaks I have the full detail.
Firstly the Ace of Spades for 2016 has the same hull shape as the kayak we reviewed on Unsponsored earlier this year.
It’s been some time since Palm Equipment had a rand based skirt in the range and it’s something that Palm followers have been crying out for. Not wanting to disappoint they have developed the new Palm Equipment Orbit Spray Skirt.
