Over the last few months little details about the new Liquidlogic Braaap have been finding there way out into the big wide world via social media. Pat Keller took the new Liquidlogic Braaap out for a spin on one of the steepest sections around on the Raven fork. A steep creek section of river in the USA.
This is a great edit that has gone totally viral from Canadian based company Nova Craft. Since the supplies of Royalex have dried up canoe firms have been looking for a viable alternative. Nova Craft have developed a composite material called Tuffstuff which seems to be doing its job very nicely.
Team Unsponsored used Bomber Gear equipment for a number of years until they became very difficult to get hold of in the UK. It’s great to see Bomber Gear launching a new line of what looks like a range of very interesting gear.

The Boost is Vajda’s newest composite playboat. Vajda have a strong following not only in the whitewater slalom community but also within the freestyle/playboating world and I suspect that the new boost will be a hit.
The new Vajda Boost first video from Platling was created by Peter Csonka. It really shows what can be achieved when you combine cutting edge design with composite materials.
I have a couple of bits of gear from Palm Equipment. The first is a Kaituna longsleeve top that I purchased last year and then there is this short sleeved version which landed at Unsponsored HQ a couple of weeks ago.
If you are using a throw line on the river I firmly believe that you need to carry a knife capable of cutting the line you are using.
There are two schools of thought on how a knife should be carried. The first option is to have a knife stored in such a way that it does not create a snag hazard but still remains accessible. The choices on how this can be achieved is limited and really relies on using a pocket on your PFD. The second option is to carry a knife clipped onto the outside of your PFD. By doing this you are accepting that there will be an increased snag risk but the knife will be readily accessible. The other issue with knives that are mounted on the outside of your PFD is that it should remain secure until it is required to be used. Continue reading

The Feather – we designed this boat to carve hard, go big and be the most fun you have ever had in a kayak I talked with some of the best boaters in the world to find out what people wanted in a new boat. The Step Chine is a new advancement in kayak tech, borrowing from powerboat designs giving a raised rail that only engages when needed. Its a loose comfortable fit for me at 6′ size 11 with thick booties on. These boats last for years being almost infinitely repairable, making them cheaper and greener long term than plastic. That and ten times more fun, carbon boats aren’t just for pros.
The new 2015 Palm Equipment Horizon shorts have just landed at Unsponsored HQ. I have a bit of time to look at them and am waiting on the warmer weather to arrived to try them out on the river. In the meantime here’s a quick run down.
The outer short is contrasted from Nylon 200d, this is very similar to the fabrics used in dry trousers and dry tops. As they are shorts none of the seams are sealed.
