Variety is the key. Shots from the same position of the play feature can become repetitive very quickly. If you are restricted by the location of your vantage point try holding the camera really high for the shot or drop down low. I use a Nikon d5100 which has a really useful flip screen that is ideal for unusual camera angles. It’s amazing what a difference this can make to shots of the same paddler/feature.

I tend not to get too worked up about cropping the image when I take the shot. I get it pretty close and then rely on cropping on the mac. Other than that and a watermark I don’t mess around with the image at all. I have Photoshop and Aperature but as yet not really done any sustained time looking at there features.

Sometimes when trying to get the perfect photograph you might find yourself getting into a tricky situation. It’s important to make sure you keep yourself aware of your surroundings so you aren’t transfixed by the world seen through the lens.
