My GoPro Hero 3 Black edition arrived this week. The form factor is identical to that of the Silver Edition I already have, as it’s the internals that are different.
Better frame rates and 2 x better low light capabilities than both the Silver and White editions! The images below show the packaging from both the the silver and black editions.

Yes, the Silver and White editions are actually just the GoPro HD Hero2 and the original HD Hero in the newer cases. So if anyone owns a Hero2 they won’t gain anything by buying the Silver edition. Black Edition is definitely the way to go!
There are still a couple reasons why the Hero 3 silver is better than the Hero 2. Size/weight is a big factor if worn on your helmet. The lens on the 3 is also better, as is its low light performance. However you can get a Black edition for around the same price as the silver, as I did.
