We don’t see much in the of Kokatat here in the UK so it was great to check out the neat Kokatat stand. On display up front was the Kokatat Maximus Centurion PFD.
Now the Maximus Centurion isn’t new as its been available since last year. Previous models have been available in navy or yellow, but this one in orange looks the business.
The PFD has and incredibly low profile even with the additional clip on front pouch. Colour coded straps help you to easily identify which ones are keeping the PFD in place and which ones are for the pouch. Incidentally the pouch also includes a sleeve suitable for a VHF radio.
Quality tape and buckles are used throughout and all adjustment points are adjusted by pulling the tape forwards which is a nice little feature.
Lots of pockets and sheath for a knife really make the Maximus Centurion a very practical option and having been constructed from Cordura and Gaia foam should mean that it will take a hammering.
As with all good whitewater vests that are suitable for pushier water this PFD includes a quick release (QR) rescue harness. Unusually the QR for the rescue harness is located to the wearers left hand side.
