Shred Ready Standard

Go to any event or any other large gathering of paddlers and you’ll be guaranteed to spot loads of folk wearing a Shred Ready standard. There are a number of good reasons for this.

Shred Ready Standard

The Shred Ready standard isn’t super expensive (around £50) which makes it cheaper than the majority of modern design helmets on the market. The helmet is a one size fits all design which makes it ideal for clubs, and individuals alike – As long as your head isn’t super small or uber large the standard will fit. To get the correct fit the helmet comes supplied with a number of shims that are velcro’d into place and are easy to mix and match. In addition the helmet also has Shred Ready’s Hand Of God (HOG) system which really helps to keep the helmet in place. Finally the coverage offered by the standard is very good.

The standard is manufactured from ABS plastic. Although a carbon deluxe variant can be also be purchased but this more than doubles the price in some cases.

The standard is available in a number of different guises –

It’s a really good helmet, great value. Though try it on before buying. While it is a great helmet mine simply doesn’t suit my facial shape and in it’s carbon form makes me look like some sort of storm trooper! Hence I wear my Sweet Strutter most of the time.

I found the full face has a tiny opening to get in… it’s a pain unless you have an abnormally small head.

Weirdly, I normally find I can’t get the half or full cut on, but the full face fits me like a glove! (a tight glove, but still…)
