Keeping them dry – aLOKSAK

Not so long ago you could carry your car keys in your PFD pocket and not have to worry about things like remote central locking, immobiliser coding or anything else. If your key got wet it didn’t really matter. Things are different now.

You therefore have three viable options:

1. Hide the keys on, in, under or near the car. Super risky and the insurance company won’t like it.
2. Carry them in a nice waterproof case in your boat. Good cases are easy to find and it’s easy to store them in your boat. However lose the boat and you’ll lose the keys.
3. Carry them with you.

After finally finding a low bulk waterproof solution that would allow me to carry my keys within my PFD I have went with option 3.

Spray Deck Skirt Modification

After reading through some old threads on liquid latex, I found some good reviews on the stuff but no pictures of how people got on, so I thought I’d share with you the pics of my repaired spray deck. Time for a little spray deck modification.

spray deck modification

My spray deck had always been fairly loose fitting so I could get it off easier in a panic, but now as my confidence has built up, I wanted a tighter fitting deck to keep me drier in pushier water or waves.

VE Paddles Review – Glass Blade Cranked

Since owning a shiny set of new custom made glass VE paddles I have found them to be an incredible piece of kit. I chose them with a cranked carbon shaft and as splits. The paddles have been put to the real test in Kenya’s steep creaks for the last five weeks. Before purchasing my VE paddles I heard a few people raving about them but I didn’t understand the fuss until I tried them for myself. After borrowing a set I initially took a liking to them and decided to buy a set for myself as splits so I could put the paddles in my boat for the flights and avoid any hassle with baggage getting separated or damaged.

Threewaves Nose Clips – Review

A few months back I got a set of Three Waves nose clips from Phil at Unsponsored. I wouldn’t usually get excited about something like a set of nose clips but I thought these were worth a few words.

Firstly it’s worth mentioning that I have always worn nose clips. I hate not having them on when I go over, especially when playboating. I’ve also tried most makes and to be honest they are all pretty much the same.

Micro SD Card Recommendations

It’s important to use one of the recommended Micro SD cards in your camera, or you may experience freeze-up or video corruption issues. If your camera has had an issue it is probably down to the Micro SD card being used. This applies whether you are using a GoPro, Contour, Drift, Sony or indeed any other type of action/POV camera. Buying a good quality fast Micro SD card can make the difference between getting the video or not.
