A shiny new Liquidlogic Flying Squirrel is on its way to Unsponsored HQ as I type this. In the meantime Kev from Northshore Watersports here in the UK hooked me up with one of his two demo Squirrels (Kev has both the 85 and 95 on demo).

The newest boat from Liquidlogic arrived in the UK this week and has soon found it’s way out to dealers including Northshore Watersports.

The Squirrel 85 (Green) and Squirrel 95 (Orange) were unwrapped this morning, and I have to say they are both fine looking boats. The Remix origin of the boat are clear to see and it’s nice to see some tweaks have been made to the BADASS outfitting.

The hip pad covering that is attached via Velcro have been lengthened and widened so even when hip pads and shims are in place there is less chance of the outfitting being pulled away when you climb into the boat.

The rest of the outfitting within the Squirrel will be pretty familiar to Liquidlogic paddlers. The backrest has the familiar ratchet system that is attached to the two thigh braces. Both of which are fully adjustable. The footrest is a full plate system that is adjusted by two black plastic wing nuts (one each side). A block of foam is supplied to sit on top of the plastic plat of the footrest. Hip pads plus additional shims are also provided.

A water bottle can be found just under the seat and is secured with a piece of bungee cord.

A clip in point for kit can be found at the front of the seat post and two additional points are found at the rear of the seats.

The Squirrel has a total of six handles. All of which have a textured black finish and are secured to the hull using security torx bolts.

The hull is nicely rounded and looks like it will forgive mistakes. Both boats have plenty of volume and it clear to see where the Remix has been pumped up. The additional rocker (particularly at the front) does make the Squirrel look very like the Wavesport Recon. However the Squirrel 95 is lighter than the Recon 93 (which I currently own).

The Squirrel will happily take a large set of Palm Infinity airbags in the back and a small set in front of the footrest.
