Dagger have released detail on the new colour line up. It’s great to see them trying out something a little bit more in your face with the Aurora colour scheme. It looks awesome.

When Astral first launched their line of watershoes a few years back the sole was constructed from Five Ten Stealth rubber. However Five Ten were bought out by Adidas and the availability of the Stealth rubber sole for third parties dried up.
Knowing that they were onto something really special with their line up of shoes Astral went out and made a compound that was far better in terms of both grip and wear than the Stealth rubber they had previously used.
Werner has led the paddlesports industry with legendary paddles for 50 years. They’ve repeatedly set a high bar and now raise that bar again with a race inspired whitewater paddle called the Odachi.
Recreational whitewater paddles have put comfort and easy of use among the top of their priority lists and that’s why we see Werner’s “Neutral Bent Shaft” align the shaft, hands and paddle blade in a nice neat line. They also extensively use pronounced dihedrals to make the paddle feel smooth and stable in the water. These features are key ingredients of what makes Werners easy and predictable to use.
I managed to have a closer look at the Broadland and Covert canoes a couple of weeks ago. Both designs look really well thought out and have been very well made.
Silverbirch canoes are made by the guys behind Tootega and are therefore designed and built right here in the UK. They currently have two canoe models in the range, The Broadland and the Covert 9.3 OC1.
The Broadland is constructed from either Duracore or Duralite three-layer polyethylene.
Now it may seem strange of me to do of a review of the Italian made Exo boat in English when it is not available in the UK, (yet?) but there are a few points going for the Exo XT Creek that may make it an interesting option for UK boaters.
I have always been a bigger boat paddler, H3, Burn, Mamba and Everest, and this boats fits right in there with those size wise.
The XT Creek is in a range of three boats the XT 260 and the XT 300, they all share or seem to share the same semi displacement hull, with the Creek having a more rounded deck front and back to shed water better when resurfacing.
Last week I got a preview of the new Inside Out video from Palm Equipment. The video takes a close look at the process of designing and then making paddling gear.
Have you ever wondered how your paddling gear is made, how it’s designed, or what a laser cutter looks like? This short film from Palm Equipment takes you inside the factory, to explain the how, the where and the why of design and manufacturing.
At under £13 the Palm Snake Sling is an affordable and I would suggest essential piece of safety gear. All good gear should have multiple uses and this is certainly true for the Snake Sling. I carry 1 x Snake Sling and 1 x Safety Tape whilst out on the water.
In the short video below Jake Holland takes us through how to carry a sling safely and how it could be used.
The new Glide PFD from Palm Equipment is designed for those watersport users who don’t want to wear a conventional PFD on calmer waters.
In addition to last year’s popular Red/White/Grey and Yellow/Jaffa/White colour schemes, we’re happy to introduce the vibrant new Turquoise/Purple/White colour scheme to the line up! That’s right, a new mix with not one, but TWO new colours!
Which one will you choose?
Hiko Sport are a company based in the Czech Republic. They had a fairly large stand at Paddle Expo and seemed to be constantly busy.
They seem to produce just about everything you could possibly need to spend a day or two on the water.
