Between A Rock And A Hard Place

Screen Shot 2015-06-27 at 18.58.42

Playing on Sorba slides, Italy. Was messing around as it was our 3rd time down, went with a cross-deck boof, missed the boof stroke unfortunately and pencilled it and then went round a few times before getting spat out. Playboating skills coming into play a bit here.

Haglofs Ace

The Haglofs Ace is a bit of an allrounder and has been used at Unsponsored HQ for a number of years for both walking and mountain biking duties.

In this case it’s a 12l pack (medium). First it is hydration compatible (up to 3l) and this one have been used extensively for the last few years with an Osprey bladder. But there is also the possibility of carrying a couple of 1l water bottles in each of the two side pockets, one is located on each side of the pack. The hip belt can be tucked away inside of the pack (as seen above) which is a feature that Unsponsored Girl approves of as the she is not a big fan of belts on packs.

TV2 Norway – Kayaking Accident Story

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 13.07.54

In July 2014 Josh Neilson was kayaking with friends in Norway near Sjoa. After 5 of his crew paddled ‘Matzes Drop’ it was his turn. After a good entry the nose of his kayak was thrust into the air and caused him to fly through the air and land at the bottom in an undesirable way. At the moment of impact he broke his back and had to be flown to Lillehammer hospital and then on to Elverum for surgery. One year of rehab later and he returns to Voss in Norway for Ekstremsportveko and to go kayaking. This is the story by TV2 on his accident and return to kayaking.

Everybody Swims

We are all in between swims.

Everybody Swims
Raven Fork ran the other day and with 730 feet per mile comes a whole lot of class 5 and the sketch involved in it.

With a good crew and the right equipment this risk can be mitigated but it still doesn’t remove the chances of something happening.

There has been a few pieces of information about the Ace of Spades, including posts on this site, but there hasn’t been much in the way of detailed images. Hopefully this post will help to put this right.

The Ace of Spades is a blown moulded displacement hull kayak. It has the features that you would expect to see in any whitewater boat – adjustable outfitting, full plate footrest, multiple grab handles, drain bung etc… but many have been executed in a creative way.

GoPro Button Mod – Sugru

Have you ever got tired of not reaching your gopro on your kayak or want to place it further away to get more landscape shooting? I came up with this solution that works perfectly for me.

I came up with this idea because I got tired of killing the battery time using the gopro remote control or my smartphone. With this button I now easily can use my paddle as a remote simply by pressing the button with my paddle.

GoPro Button Mod

All you need is a good cleaning of the button, some Sugru that by the way also works great for making nose clips and drip edges on your paddle.
