Swim From Hell On Clear Creek Narrows

Swimming in white water is never easy. This video gives a really good perspective on what it can be like.

That was a horrible swim. Though it was clearly above his grade, and therefore a lesson to perhaps know what you are committing yourself to before taking on such a run?

the only horrible thing about that swim was that the guy just can’t swim! (his paddling skills are another matter). it is not always easy to get out of the mid-stream on a river like that (and yes i have tried!))).. but if you dont even try… i was half-expecting him to give up half way through the video, and was left with a strong impression that if he found himself is a good hole mid-way through it, he would..

First off, glad you are OK. No shame. Lots of people have gotten in over their heads at times. What can you learn? On creeks like this don’t swim passively. Turn over and do the Michael Phelps! Cold water can sap your energy and sweep you into some bad shit. Who were you with? Just one person in the video. Were there more in your group? Tougher water is best with a team of at least three. Did your team tell you, “Hey, we can get you down this.”? Pick another team. And, more people on it. Maybe you were just having a bad day. No shame in feeling shaky and deciding to pass/bail if you’re not up to the task. The river will still be there when you are ready.

I don’t mean to be rude but unfortunately this man is very out of his depth. I’m all for pushing your self, but the way this happened is a bit embarrassing. Adding to that, he really could off made it to the side/eddy with a few aggressive swimming strokes?
