In an emergency situation on a river it may not be possible to hear people shout clearly as the sound of the water can drown out the quality of the sound. However a good whistle can punch through that.

Breathability is achieved through diffusion: moisture and heat create enough pressure that moisture vapor finally passes through the fabric. For 2015 Mad River Canoes are launching a new material for use in its line of canoes. From the images it looks like some sort of composite material and could be ideal for those looking for a tough but light canoe.
After the huge success of the Brewer and Brewess, Astral have developed a new shoe called the Loyak.
The Loyak has a much lower profile than the Brewer. The upper of the Loyak is constructed from 1000 denier Cordura Nylon and the sole is made of G.15 rubber (The replacement for 5:10 stealth rubber).

Giant Slalom 2014! Sunday morning a group of partially hung-over advanced kayakers met up to run the second annual Giant Slalom race at the Slave River Paddlefest. This year we had three “gates”: touch river left, touch river right, touch an island, then touch the finish. Racers could touch anywhere on the bank, allowing a large variety of lines.
