Tyne Tour 2020

Unfortunately the Tyne Tour for 2020 didn’t happen last weekend due to the restictiction currently in place in England for Covid-19. The decision not to run the event was definitely the right one. I for one definitely missed seeing the action unfold from Rescue Rock on the North Tyne. For all those that also missed not being in the Tyne Valley last weekend here is a post with some images from the last few years.

Duo Kayaks

Duo Kayaks or Tandem Kayaks are super fun, and are a great way to get non-paddling friends on the water. There are a number of Duo kayaks available that are suitable for both flatwater and whitewater use.

Follow their adventure in TGR’s final short film from the Tough Fun trilogy, and watch them run some of the gnarliest whitewater in this part of the world.

Yak Horizon Drysuit – Review

This is the Yak Horizon Drysuit it is available only in red/black. The Horizon is made from hard wearing 3-layer breathable material with Cordura re-enforcement on the knee and bum.

We received a large drysuit just after lockdown here in UK began, but despite the restrictions have managed to get some time on the water using the suit.

Yak Horizon Drysuit – Review

At 6ft 2″ with a 42″ chest, and size 10 (UK) feet the large Horizon drysuit fits well both whilst standing and probably more importantly whilst sitting in a boat. I tend to wear large drysuits or drytops from pretty much any manufacturer and the sizing here is bang on.

1st Green Race Training Lap

Every year I am always so fired up for the first long boat training lap on the Green. This year I was especially fired up because normally I have to do my first lap and shake off the cobwebs just a few days before the race, this year I got to do mine a whole month before. Although since then there has hardly been any days to do more training, it has helped being able to spend more time in a long boat than I normally would get before the race. This wasn’t the Sub 4 debut run I was looking for, but pulling out of the start line for the first time gets me every time. Now only a few weeks away, let’s hope I can get some more laps and clean up the lines!
