Continue readingWanted to make this edit for ages, but I wanted to wait to have a space to be able to record it and edit it properly. Big thanks to everyone supporting us on patroen, we saved up the last several months and used the money to upgrade our camera and light system massively. Still shooting on the Panasonic GH5 but now with a good tripod, external monitor and lighting.

BCWW has been in contact with the Tahltan Nation regarding access for paddling the Stikine Canyon. Unfortunately kayakers are not welcome this year. This is understandable, the health of their community and their elders is the priority. Kayakers who ignore this message could jeopardize access for years to come.
As a group, we should consider not travelling to remote communities this summer.
Continue readingHot on the heals of the Kokatat Hustle R is the Palm Equipment Nevis PFD. We now have one of the very first at Unsponsored HQ for review.

The Nevis is an over the head slab PFD with a number of features I have not seen before in a PFD.

Continue readingThe Nevis PFD is the culmination of research from UCLan, design by Barney Caulfield and testing worldwide by Bren Orton. At its core is the Delta Fit adjustment system. Two wings that wrap your ribs, reducing pressure on your abdomen, helping you to breathe and increasing mobility. Set-up to go in five fluid steps, with fewer buckles (including new load tested aircraft grade aluminium hardware). The Nevis has the world’s first Piggyback adjustable quick release chest harness, improving upon the latest research, so that releasing your harness doesn’t affect the fit of your PFD. The Nevis sets a new standard in fit and safety.

I decided in January 2019 to get a wheel off Kickr 18 as I really like riding on Zwift and the wheel off meant that I could almost fit and forget.
Within a couple of weeks the unit began to display the clunking and clicking that many units had suffered. The flywheel was also running with a bit of a wobble. A replacement arrived a few days after raising a support ticket and submitting a short video of the issue.
