Stout Hunting – Scotland July 15

Over the last few days Team Unsponsored has been camped out on the West Coast of Scotland. With a number of pieces of gear ready for a final review it made sense to use a couple of the days to hunt down some whitewater that may not have been paddled before. Suffice to say the hunt was very successful.

Who are Immersion Research Europe? Tell us a little about the company and its history.

Immersion Research was founded in 1997 by John and Kara Weld. They started off by making board shorts and then thermals. The line up and company grew every year but John and Kara are still running the show. Today, IR makes some of the most innovative, smart and practical gear available.

Immersion Research Europe

At the end of 2010, Immersion Research did not have a proper distributor in Europe, so it was tough to get many items of our gear on this side of the Atlantic. IR saw this as an opportunity to sell to customers directly using an online store. Immersion Research Europe was born!

We take orders on our website and ship directly to European customers from our base in the UK.

Immersion Research Europe is just now in the process of expanding to a new, larger location. This new set up will mean a much larger amount of stock can be held in the UK, allowing us to get gear to our customers faster.

As a company, we’ve weathered changes and have celebrated as our global paddling community pushed the limits of paddlesports. We are mindful of that heritage, and as we reflect on Rick’s incredible legacy, we announce today the difficult decision to cease production and distribution of Bomber Gear in 2016.

To our Wave Sport family,

It has been our honor to produce the best whitewater kayaks in the world for the last 29 years. When Chan Zwanzig started Wave Sport in 1986, he was importing one kayak from the UK, the Lazer. Fast forward a few years, Wave Sport playboats were dominating world competitions, as our creek boats were used to notch the hardest first descents. Wave Sport was on the leading edge in the ‘90s and that has continued through today.

So it is with mixed emotions we announce to you that we are transitioning production and distribution of all Wave Sport kayaks to Europe, starting in 2016. Our remaining North American inventory will be sold through our loyal retailers.

Grand Canyon Of The Elwha

A great edit showing the Grand Canyon of the Elwha. The Elwha had been dammed for the best part of 100 years and was not in great condition. Since the demolition of the dam late in 2014 the river has a new lease of life.
