Liquidriot Duo Kayak – The Build

The Liquidriot Duo kayak seen in a previous post was photographed a few days ago. In the three days following the original post over 12k people have viewed it, which is quite simply incredible.

The Duo was hand crafted by Newcastle Uni paddlers – Jacob Collings, Matt Rose, Catherine Sanderson, and Angus Mackay. The guys behind the kayak have kindly sent some images of their creation being put together.

Scottish Kayaks & Paddles – Theft

Sunday the 25th Jan 2015 – Scottish Kayaks & Paddles was broken into. Several pieces of kit have been stolen including some gear by Palm Equipment.

Please keep an eye out for cheap Palm Atoms, Surges and some other jackets as our Scottish Kayaks & Paddles shop got broken into last night and these are the items that we know are missing so far, if you do by chance hear of any please contact the police or ourselves.

2014 Compilation – Carson Lindsay

Yak Teams Up With Blue And White

Yak are delighted to announce that from 1st January 2015 Blue and White GmbH, the leading European distributor for paddle sports equipment, will be distributing the Yak brand in the German speaking area of Europe. This follows the presentation of the highly acclaimed new range of products from Yak at Paddle Expo 2014, which caused great excitement amongst the paddlers at the show.
On display were the new vibrant Whitewater, Touring and Recreational ranges, giving a taste of what to expect for the 2015 season, including a variety of buoyancy aids, cags and accessories.

POV Cameras Possible Danger?

I am a huge GoPro user, I have owned most types and always have a couple with my kayaking kit. Being able to bring tech into my paddling offers me the perfect combination of the kind of things I am into. I also spend a great deal of time watching home grown kayak movies on Vimeo and Youtube, many of which appear here on the site so I have a pretty good feel of what is possible and the impact that POV cameras have had on the sport.

Society is probably more media driven than it ever has been before and even the small section of society who kayak have been part of and are impacted upon by the rise of social media. Being able to view user driven and user published media where the end viewer has ultimately also become the media maker/publisher has many merits and has helped bring the sport to more people than it ever has done in the past.
