How about some good news? The Rio Apiacás is still free flowing from it’s source, to the Teles Pires, to the Tapajós, into the Amazon, and into the Atlantic Ocean despite seeing a ready made big hydro construction camp at the truly awe inspiring Apiacás falls back in 2010. That camp appears to still sit vacant today (slide 2). The challenge is of course “agua na boca” of the multinational construction firms like Odebrecht and their green washing partners like Enel who sell these projects of part and parcel to “our green future.” Read Enel’s lovely sales pitch (linked in my bio) for their latest dam on the Teles Pires, and then compare that to the satellite view of the last 2 slides of the furthest downstream mega hydro at the Confluence of the Teles Pires and Apiacás. #i❤️Brasil
