For The Love Of Rodeo

Rodeo has really taken off down here on the Green River Narrows in Saluda, NC. Doing really really slow laps, lapping all features, and dialing in moves for the Green River Games, it’s been one hell of a time. A lot of trial and error, heres a little bit of both:) Enjoy!

Contour Roam Review

Natty Cordon tells us about the Contour Roam in her Contour Roam review. Enjoy.

Good footage for a good price

Contour have never been the obvious choice if you’re choosing a camera for kayaking, but having recently re-emerged under new management, the company has a lot to offer any badass on a budget.

I recently read a review of Contour’s top-of-the-range camera, the Contour +2. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for with action cameras, but if you’re after a camera that delivers quality footage for a fraction of the price, then the Roam 2 is a great way to go. Here’s why…

Contour POV Cameras Back On The Scene

Contour disappeared from the scene last year after the company went into difficulties. Since then Contour have been reborn under new management which puts Contour POV cameras back on the scene. Although a firm GoPro user I have tested the Contour range a few times and really like a number of their features. Check out my review of the Contour +2.

The UK distributers of Contour products (Ultra Sport Europe) kindly agreed to send me one of the new Contour + 2 cameras for test.

What SD Card For My POV Action Camera?

One of the biggest areas that is overlooked when getting a video/camera setup for trips out is the speed of the your SD or Micro SD card. Now this doesn’t matter if your camera is a GoPro, Contour, Garmin, Sony or whatever because without a good memory card you may struggle to capture the video footage you want.

Which SD Memory Card For My GoPro?

The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for all SD cards, including both full and micro sized versions. Speed Class is a minimum speed based on a worst case scenario test and represents the minimum transfer rate of data that the card is capable of.

Surprise, Surprise – GoPro Hero 3 Plus Black Edition

Although the GoPro Hero 3 plus black edition system excels at recoding video footage it can also take some pretty good still shots. I often like to set the GoPro Hero 3 plus black edition to take still images every 30 seconds to see what it comes out with.

Now and again my GoPro really surprises me. The shot above was taken using standard settings in low light. I quite like it!

The GoPro was set up on the bow of a Wavesport Recon using a standard sticky mount. A tether was used to keep the GoPro Hero 3 plus black edition safe in the event the mount failed. The camera was set up facing the paddler.

GoPro Hero 3 And 3 Plus Micro SD Card

One of the biggest areas that is overlooked when getting a video/camera setup for trips out is the speed of the your SD card. Many ask what is the best SD card for my GoPro camera? The GoPro HD Hero3 and 3 Plus series of cameras support Micro SD cards up to 64GB.

The choices of GoPro Hero 3 And 3 Plus micro SD cards is huge. Hopefully my trial and error over the last few years will point you in the right direction.

I have updated this post to ensure that the best cards possible are identified. This post also now contains references to the Hero 4 range of cameras.

The GoPro Hero 3 – white, silver, black and the even newer newer GoPro 3+ range use Micro SD Cards. Micro SD cards are roughly the size of a mobile phone sim card and are often supplied with an adaptor to allow them to be used within tech that uses full size SD cards.
