It’s been a long ride with many ups and downs but in the end I’m beyond stoked with the outcome. 34 new rivers, 10 first descents, and many new lifelong friends. South America has provided the experience of a lifetime, I’ll be forever grateful and glad for all the long hours of work that paid for this adventure. From the jungles of Brazil to the deserts of northern Chile then South down the country to deep Patagonia.
Analysis of one of many drops we lead folks down in Chile every year. See what it takes to operate safely and execute a seamless rescue when things don’t go according to plan. Thanks to the safety team of Chris Baer and Chris Wing, and Rose Wall for allowing her footage of the rescue to be used for educational purposes.
A run down the Middle Fuy with the boys and girls from the World Class Academy.
After three weeks in Chile, World Class students were FIRED UP to run the famous Middle Fuy. Eleven students in total safely descended this fifty foot waterfall and the run below. I hope you enjoy this recap of WCA’s time on el Rio Fuy, Chile 2016. Yew!
Chris Baer’s Nevado edit captures some great action.
Aeon Russo, Mark Taylor, and Chris Baer make their way down the quintessential Chilean steep creek Nevado.
Follow the Serrasolses Bros crew on their adventures across Patagonia in southern Chile.
Join them for a ride down high water middle Fuy, Aniol’s second personal descent of 100ft Puma Falls and on the classic big water runs like the Futaleufu and the Baker in southern Patagonia.
The Rio Baker is in the deep south of the Chilean Patagonia and is fed by the 2nd largest lake in all of South America! We had a huge, enthusiastic and diverse crew of amazing characters.
The Middle Palguin class V waterfall near Pucon Chile was arguably one of the most cherished cascade features in the kayaking world. During 2014 heavy flooding milled porous basalt below the cascade formerly known as Stout 10. Tons of bedrock literally collapsed out from under Stout 10 just above the kayaker destination Middle Palguin 70 footer. Now, kayakers consistently ask, “What’s at the bottom?” “Can you send a probe kayak?” “Is it runnable?” A little known study abroad program for kayakers decided to kayak probe the cave siphon drop and document the mission for a video production course.
Follow me on a roller coaster of a trip through out Patagonia. I was fortunate enough to make it back there for a second trip this year and will be returning here in October for some Spring floods !!! Continue reading
