Second Full Descent Of The Grand Canyon Of The Stikine

Second full descent of the grand canyon of the Stikine from SB Productions on Vimeo.

For years the Stikine has been considered the Everest of kayaking. The remoteness and difficulty of it’s rapids makes any of the most hardcore kayakers scared. Follow the Serrasolses brothers as they embark on an epic journey for the 2nd full descent of this whitewater gem.

Wavesport Mobius And New Pyranha Burn – A Closer Look

The Pyranha Burn shown here is a final prototype and has all the features and fitting of the production boat.

mobius_burn1

As you can see the new Pyranha design looks more like a river runner than the last model. The lines are long, edges more continuous and the boat overall appears to have a much longer waterline.

Voss’s Secret

Here is a edit of a not very well know run just 10 mins from Voss this is the little gem that was shown to me this year and I think is possibly the most fun close to Voss.

Liquid Logic Remix – Review

The Remix is LiquidLogics displacement hull river runner. The boat has a strong following across the globe but you don’t see very many of them here in the UK. I managed to get a loan of a Remix 79 for a few weeks and spent a number of days on the water in various conditions and locations.

Jackson Kayak – Zen Review

The Zen is Jackson’s medium volume river running machine. The kayak is designed to sit between the full on creeker the Karma and the Star playboat range.

Jackson has designed the Zen to be a performance river runner that is capable of tackling most grades of water. Having spent a great deal of time paddling the Liquid Logic Remix and Wavesport Diesel over the last couple of years I was interested in how the Zen would perform.I paddled the Zen 75 over the course of a couple of months in a number of different white water and flat-water location. I sit right within the middle of the recommended weight range.

The New Pyranha Burn Promo

Screen Shot 2013-08-19 at 19.34.38

The third generation Burn is the latest in Pyranha’s long line of cutting edge river runners.

The improvements include:

Increased length for extra speed, smoother tracking and greater control.
Sharper centre and forward edges for greater precision in river running and playing.
Re-profiled stern for speed with more edge where you need it, less where you don’t.
Tweaked rocker profile so the boat rides high and gives you the all-important boof when you need it.
Subtle volume distribution gives a confidence inspiring ride for the intermediate paddlers and those making steeper descents.
Re-profiled cockpit to reduce deck implosion and ease carrying.

Dagger Katana

Screen Shot 2013-08-02 at 20.19.34

Dagger’s entry into the cross over market – the Katana sparked a great deal of interest when images of parts of the boat were leaked on the net. Most were hoping for a revamp of the Nomad creakier. Nevertheless the Katana looks like it will be a great paddle and will be popular with a wide section of the market.

Team Dagger’s Chris Gragtman’s gives us the bow to stern on Dagger’s new Katana. Designed for whitewater overnighters, to easy river trips

2014 Pyranha Burn

Screen Shot 2013-08-02 at 20.17.24

UK firm Pyranha have taken elements from previous Burn designs and have made the 3rd generation Burn for 2014. The Burn is a superb boat and the new design tweaks looks like it will continue to be very popular.

Dagger Juice – Review

Over the last 10 years of paddling I have owned a few Dagger boats and have always got on well with the designs. Following trends etc I did end up with a few boats from other manufacturers but as a pure river runner I was pleased when the Juice was announced and I saved my pennies straight away.
